webmaster:

A.S. Performing Arts has an enduring committment to presenting and
supporting American roots music in its many forms.  In 2002 we produced The Mocha Festival, featuring prominent Blues, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk and Country artists.  This Spring 2003 we have presented bluegrass artists The Lynn Morris Band in concert and in a "Roots in the Classroom" workshop, a lecture and film on Country music pioneer DeFord Bailey, and a week of events devoted to the life and legacy of Paul Robeson.  We actively support the campaign to induct DeFord Bailey into the Country Music Hall of Fame - he's the only original member of the Grand Ol' Opry not to be included.
